Last year during the political campaign House Democrats promised to pass six pieces of legislation if the American people trusted us with control of the House. The American people were looking for a new direction, and turned to us to get them there.

Democrats promised that if the American people trusted us with control of Congress we would take America in a new direction.

So far, we have made good on our promise to break the link between lobbyists and legislation and we reinstituted pay-as-you-go budgeting.

Last month Americans went to the voting booths to voice their displeasure with the most "Do-Nothing Congress" in our nation's history.

It was bad enough the Republican Congress rejected our efforts to increase the minimum wage, to prevent Big Oil from price gouging the American consumer and to prevent seniors from falling into the prescription drug donut hole.

Within the first 100 hours of the new Democratic Congress, we will accomplish more than the Republican Do-Nothing Congress accomplished this entire year.

While Republicans refused to break their questionable cozy relationships with lobbyists, Democrats will pass an ethics reform bill that will once again make this the people's House not the lobbyist's House.

Now that the elections are over, it's time for Democrats and Republicans to come together to work in a bipartisan fashion to help all Americans. Throughout this year, Democrats have talked about a forward-looking agenda---one that encompasses all Americans.
