Washington, DC – Long Branch officials attended the presentation ceremony led by First Lady Dr. Jill Biden at the White House today for the Long Branch Free Public Library. The library was one of just four nationwide to receive the 2023 National Medal for Museum and Library Service from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The National Medal is the nation’s highest honor given to museums and libraries that demonstrate excellence in service to their communities.

Washington, D.C. – Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) today will join Vice President Kamala Harris and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Michael S. Regan to announce the launch of two competitive grant programs made possible by the recently-enacted Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. The Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, enacted last year as part of the Inflation Reduction Act, will invest a total of $27 billion to deploy clean energy and technology projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

“Derogatory names and symbols that invoke stereotypes of Native Americans are offensive and embody a shameful legacy of institutionalized mistreatment of this community. They are especially harmful to Native students and children, causing lower self-esteem and other psychological issues documented in scientific studies. These depictions and imagery also impact non-Native people by reinforcing negative stereotypes and misperceptions,” Pallone said.
