Dear Friend,

Over the last several weeks, I have been working hard to advance legislation to restore net neutrality, stabilize the ACA, lower prescription drug costs, and maintain our commitment to the Paris Climate Accord. As Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee, I was proud to hold our first full Committee markup this week, advancing 14 bills that are now ready for consideration on the House floor.

Dear Neighbors,

When my colleagues and I passed the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in 2010, we included provisions that would provide for comprehensive consumer protections in the health care marketplace. These provisions prevent insurers from discriminating based on age, gender, health-status, and pre-existing conditions, and also mandate that insurers provide essential health benefits. These benefits include coverage for prescriptions, maternity care, hospitalization, and many other essential health services.

Dear Neighbors,

In recent years, I have heard countless examples of the many ways the internet is driving innovation and growth across our communities. This is why we need to have a free and open internet supported by net neutrality. Net neutrality requires telecommunication companies to treat all data equally. This policy prevents broadband providers from selectively slowing down or blocking websites, or charging more for "fast lanes" of internet service. It prevents large corporations from gaining an unfair advantage on small businesses in communities throughout New Jersey.

By Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr.

President Trump has no problem telling a lie. But last week the President wrote a brazen opinion piece for USA Today on health care that took his lies to a new level. The piece so thoroughly distorted the facts that one has to wonder if there is anyone left in the White House who values the truth.

Dear Neighbors,

When I travel throughout New Jersey, I hear constantly about the opioid epidemic that is devastating our communities. More than 2,200 people died from drug overdoses in 2016, nearly a 40 percent increase in the death toll from the previous year. Thousands more individuals and families face the debilitating realities of addiction. That is why I have made it a priority to address the opioid epidemic in Congress.

Dear Neighbors,

Each year billions of dollars are distributed in federal grant and loan money to institutions and organizations throughout the country. The 6th District's universities, colleges, non-profit organizations, small businesses, and local governments are well-qualified to compete for these funds. It is my job to represent you and local organizations in Washington and I want to make sure you are aware of the numerous grant opportunities that the federal government provides.

Dear Neighbors,

Food labels play an important role in our nation's battle against obesity and diet-related disease. Unfortunately, federal labeling rules have not kept up with the changing marketplace, and food labels do not always provide the clear information that you and your family need to evaluate products and make healthy choices. That is why I introduced the Food Labeling Modernization Act.

My bill will:

1) Direct the Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary to establish a single, standard front of package nutrition labeling system

Dear neighbors,

I know that for many working families the cost of paying medical bills without health insurance can be overwhelming. That is why I pushed to enact the Affordable Care Act, which provides insurance through the federal healthcare marketplace. I’m working to make sure all New Jerseyans are aware of the open enrollment period and what they can do to get covered.
