Each year, billions of dollars are distributed in federal grant and loan money to institutions and organizations throughout the country. New Jersey’s Sixth Congressional District's non-profit organizations, small businesses, universities, colleges, and local governments are well-qualified to compete for these funds. My office is working to make sure you are aware of the numerous competitive grant opportunities through the federal government.
The Congressional Award
The United States Congress established The Congressional Award in 1979 to recognize initiative, service, and achievement in young people. It began as a bipartisan effort in both the United States Senate and the House of Representatives. The original bill was sponsored by Senator Malcolm Wallop of Wyoming and Congressman James Howard of New Jersey.
Congressman Pallone has submitted funding requests for important community projects in New Jersey’s 6th Congressional District to the Appropriations Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Member Designated Transportation Projects
The U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure plans to advance surface transportation authorization legislation later this spring, building on H.R. 2, the Moving Forward Act, from the 116th Congress. The Committee is formally accepting requests for projects from House Members as a part of this process.
What is the Congressional App Challenge?
In 2013, leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives and at the Internet Education Foundation sought to foster an appreciation for computer science and STEM. That year, House leadership brought to the floor and overwhelmingly passed House Resolution 77 – Academic Competition Resolution of 2013, 411 votes to 3.
