Washington, D.C. - Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr., Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee’s Health Subcommittee, on Friday requested more information from Food and Drug Administration's Commissioner Margaret Hamburg regarding the safety of genetically engineered salmon for public consumption. Pallone made this request after FDA officials indicated they are moving forward with the approval process to allow for the sale of genetically modified salmon in grocery stores.
Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. announced on Friday that he has launched a probe of the double-digit rate hikes for long-term care insurance, starting with companies that imposed the sudden increases on policy holders in New Jersey. Congressman Pallone, the chairman of the House Energy & Commerce Health Subcommittee, initiated the investigation by sending official requests to the firms for all the information they used to hike the rates.
Plainfield - Insurance companies will no longer be allowed to drop coverage when people get sick. Lifetime caps will no longer be allowed. Annual caps will be phased out. Children with pre-existing conditions will no longer be denied coverage. Children up to 26 years old will be allowed to remain on their parents' insurance plan. Discrimination based on income will be prohibited. And an independent appeals process will be established to handle disputes.
