Washington, D.C. – The BP Oil Spill Commission’s investigatory report, presented to the House Natural Resources Committee on Wednesday on the safety failures that caused the catastrophic BP oil spill off the Gulf Coast, is more evidence that the drive for profits in the offshore drilling industry caused the recent Gulf oil spill and reveals industry-wide corner-cutting practices. Washington, D.C. – Congressman Frank Pallone Jr. Thursday met with First Responder beneficiaries of the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act which recently passed into law January 2, 2011. He toured UMDNJ – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, one of eight certified specialized treatment centers for 9/11 related illnesses under the Zadroga Act.

Calls for action on Clean Water Protection Act

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) announced Wednesday that the Goodwill Hose Co. No. 1 Fire Department has received a $269,800 grant and the Union Fire Co. No. 1 has received a $16,500 grant, both in Belmar, provided through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. Goodwill Hose Co. No. 1 will spend the money on vehicle acquisition as well as operations and safety and the Union Fire co. No. 1 will be spend the grant on equipment and training to improve emergency response capabilities.

Washington, D.C. -- Representative Frank Pallone (NJ-06) Tuesday reintroduced the No New Drilling Act in light of the National Commission on BP report that concludes we are still vulnerable to another major oil spill. A key finding in the report concludes that the proper safety precautions and oversight is still not in place to prevent another spill.

Washington, D.C. – Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) Friday announced increased funding levels for research over the past four years have helped to better understand the spectrum autism disorders. A Health and Human Services report on the status of autism in America which affects an estimated 1 of every 94 children in New Jersey, concludes that continued research focusing on identifying genetic and environmental triggers will yield treatment and prevention strategies.

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr., Thursday requested New Jersey Attorney General Paula T. Dow investigate allegations against Bank of America in response to constituent complaints about questionable lending practices resulting in consumer home foreclosures and increased debt burdens. Recently, Pallone’s constituents have reported many instances of being misled and misinformed by Bank of America regarding their loan and chances for modification.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr., Tuesday commended the passage of the Food Safety Modernization Act. The legislation was approved by the House of Representatives after the Senate approved the legislation. The bill will now be signed by the president.

“I am deeply concerned about the Food and Drug Administration’s decision to begin to withdraw approval for bevacizumab, also known as Avastin, to be labeled for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer.

Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) announced Wednesday that the Long Branch Fire Department has received $36,000 in funding provided through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. The money will be spent to improve emergency response capabilities by purchasing updated protective equipment.
