Pallone originally authored or advanced key provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act through his Energy and Commerce Committee over the last couple of years. President Biden signed the bill into law last month.

Long Branch, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that the Army Corps of Engineers will begin beach replenishment this fall in Elberon. Pallone met with the Army Corps in January to advocate for this project. The federal funding comes from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which Pallone pushed for last year. The Army Corps will place 1.2 million cubic yards of sand from Takanassee Lake south in Elberon. Work is expected to begin in late November or early December.

The federal funding comes from the American Rescue Plan that House Democrats passed and President Biden signed into law in 2021. The funding is provided through the Department of Homeland Security's Nonprofit Security Grant Program's (NSGP) Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) that supports physical security enhancements and coordination activities for nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of a terrorist attack.

The reinstatement of the tax is effective January 1, 2023. The tax is expected to raise $11.7 billion.
