Howard Marine Sciences Laboratory at Sandy Hook will receive $480,000 to support research on the effects of environmental change on marine habitats and fisheries surrounding Sandy Hook. Pallone secured the funding in a federal spending bill that President Biden signed into law. Pallone was joined by Dr. Richard W. Spinrad, who serves as the Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Administrator.

The Right to Contraception Act establishes a statutory right to obtain and use contraceptives and gives health care providers the right to provide contraceptives, contraception, and information related to contraception. The bill also protects against any state laws that attempt to restrict access to contraceptives.

The first contract was awarded this week by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) for $50,035,435 and will fund the construction of a beach berm with a planted dune, pedestrian and automobile crosswalks, and terminal groins. The project was authorized for construction in the Water Resources Development Act of 2007.
