Highlands, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced that the James J. Howard Marine Sciences Laboratory at Sandy Hook will receive $480,000 to support research on the effects of environmental change on marine habitats and fisheries surrounding Sandy Hook. Pallone secured the funding in a federal spending bill that President Biden signed into law. Pallone was joined by Dr. Richard W. Spinrad, who serves as the Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Administrator.

Washington, DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today led House passage of a bill to protect the right to contraception. The Right to Contraception Act establishes a statutory right to obtain and use contraceptives and gives health care providers the right to provide contraceptives, contraception, and information related to contraception. The bill also protects against any state laws that attempt to restrict access to contraceptives.

Washington, DC – Representatives Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12), and Andy Kim (NJ-03) announced that their provision to waive federal recoupment efforts for Superstorm Sandy victims passed the U.S. House of Representatives today. The provision is included in a federal spending bill and grants the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development the authority to waive the requirement for New Jersey homeowners to pay back federal disaster relief aid.

Washington, DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr.'s (NJ-06) amendment to prohibit next-generation F-16 fighter jets and F-16 modernization kits to Turkey unless the sale goes through a rigorous certification process with Congress passed the House today. Pallone offered the amendment as part of the National Defense Authorization Act of Fiscal Year 2023. Reports of the United States' intent to move forward with the sale were confirmed during the NATO summit in Madrid, Spain, last June.

Long Branch, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced today with Senators Bob Menendez (D-NJ) and Cory Booker (D-NJ) that the Union Beach flood control project will begin this fall. The first contract was awarded this week by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) for $50,035,435 and will fund the construction of a beach berm with a planted dune, pedestrian and automobile crosswalks, and terminal groins. The project was authorized for construction in the Water Resources Development Act of 2007.
