Pallone Highlights Upgrades to South Plainfield’s Emergency Response System

February 3, 2023

South Plainfield, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) held a press conference today to highlight upgrades to South Plainfield's emergency response system. Pallone secured $370,725 to modernize the emergency operations center in a federal spending bill that was signed into law last year. The funding will be used to replace equipment and upgrade the Communications and 9-1-1 Center used to coordinate police, fire, and EMS services during emergencies and natural disasters. These upgrades will ensure that first responders can work together more effectively and increase their capability to respond to crises.

"I'm proud to be in South Plainfield today to talk about important upgrades coming to the town's emergency operations center. The COVID-19 pandemic showed just how important our first responders are to our communities. This funding will help first responders keep South Plainfield safe and healthy," said Pallone. "I'm grateful to everyone who joined us today and for our police, fire, and EMS departments who work tirelessly to make South Plainfield a great place to live and work."

"I am pleased the United States Congress recognized the need to allocate funds for South Plainfield's Emergency Operations Center," said South Plainfield Mayor Anesh. "Congressman Pallone's Office and the South Plainfield Police worked well together to secure this Homeland Security funding to ensure the Borough's 911 Communication Infrastructure continues to remain state-of-the-art for the safety and well-being of South Plainfield's residents."
