Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) and members of the Energy and Commerce Committee’s Health Subcommittee Thursday approved legislation to address growing concerns about concussions and other serious head injuries among school-aged children. Last week the panel held a hearing on this legislation and heard from student athletes, trainers, sports doctors and brain injury specialists at the home of the New Jersey Devils.

Frank Pallone Jr. (NJ-06), chair of the India Caucus’ Kashmir Task Force, Tuesday evening was recognized by the Hindu American Foundation for introducing a Congressional resolution recognizing human rights violations of Kashmiri Pandits. In a Capitol Hill reception devoted to promoting the understanding Hindu American issues, the organization thanked Pallone for his work introducing the resolution.

Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) Tuesday announced the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in New Brunswick received a grant of $647,654 to establish a new training center that will host a variety of skills improvement programs for those going into the public health workforce and improve the service accessibility for low income communities.

Belmar, NJ — Senator Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) and Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) Wednesday touted the work of the Monmouth University’s Urban Coast Institute, which has received over $1 million in federal funding since it was established in 2005 to study the coastal environment. Last year, the program received $250,000 in federal funding to study and develop strategies to reduce pollution and help maintain the balance of human and natural use of coastal areas.

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone Jr., Thursday commended the Mid Atlantic Fishery Management Council for responding to recommendations to increase the summer flounder quota for the 2011 fishing year, which represent a 25 percent increase over the 2010 fishing season’s quota.

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone Jr., (NJ-06) Wednesday announced the award of a $39.7 million broadband grant to establish a dedicated radio network to improve communications amongst first responders in New Jersey. The grant, awarded by the Department of Commerce, will benefit 51 public safety agencies that serve a population of more than 4.5 million people.

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Reps. Frank Pallone Jr., (NJ-06) and Rush Holt (NJ-12) Tuesday sent a letter to Army Secretary McHugh repeating a prior request that Fort Monmouth’s commissary and post exchange remain in operation after the fort closes. Both facilities supply necessary affordable goods and services to the military community.
