Washington, D.C. – Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) Friday announced increased funding levels for research over the past four years have helped to better understand the spectrum autism disorders. A Health and Human Services report on the status of autism in America which affects an estimated 1 of every 94 children in New Jersey, concludes that continued research focusing on identifying genetic and environmental triggers will yield treatment and prevention strategies.

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr., Thursday requested New Jersey Attorney General Paula T. Dow investigate allegations against Bank of America in response to constituent complaints about questionable lending practices resulting in consumer home foreclosures and increased debt burdens. Recently, Pallone’s constituents have reported many instances of being misled and misinformed by Bank of America regarding their loan and chances for modification.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr., Tuesday commended the passage of the Food Safety Modernization Act. The legislation was approved by the House of Representatives after the Senate approved the legislation. The bill will now be signed by the president.

Washington, D. C. – U. S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr., issued the following statement on Thursday in response to the decision by the Food and Drug Administration to withdraw approval of Avastin:

“I am deeply concerned about the Food and Drug Administration’s decision to begin to withdraw approval for bevacizumab, also known as Avastin, to be labeled for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) announced Wednesday that the Long Branch Fire Department has received $36,000 in funding provided through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. The money will be spent to improve emergency response capabilities by purchasing updated protective equipment.

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr., Thursday requested Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke intervene on behalf of the recreational fishing public and associated businesses to make the quotas proposed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the National Marine Fisheries Services less restrictive. The proposed 2011 Black Sea Bass quota from the agencies will over regulate the fishery and does not reflect the current status of the black sea bass stock.

Washington, D.C. – Thursday the Senate failed to move forward with giving final approval on the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act creating a permanent source of funding for first-responders who were at Ground Zero during and after September 11, 2001. The cloture vote of 57-42, failed to garner enough support to end debate on the bill and vote it out of the Senate to the president’s desk, essentially killing the bill for the time being.

Washington, D. C. - Seeking stricter enforcement of sanctions on Iran, U. S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. on Thursday wrote to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, Ben Bernanke, chairman of the Federal Reserve, and President-elect Dilma Rousseff of Brazil, urging compliance and enforcement of international and domestic laws intended to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

Pallone also wrote to two foreign-based companies doing business with Iran warning them of the consequences of violating U. S. sanctions.

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) Thursday applauded passage of the Medicare and Medicaid Extenders of 2010, averting a 25 percent payment cut to physicians who treat seniors and military families which without this bill would have taken effect January 1. Passage today means physician fees in Medicare will remain at their current levels for all of 2011.
