Congressman Pallone understands that investing in all forms of infrastructure is necessary to ensuring a strong economy. That is why as then-Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee, he introduced the LIFT America Act which would make comprehensive investments in New Jersey and the nation's infrastructure. The bill would authorize over $80 billion to expand access to broadband, improve drinking water infrastructure, update our electric grid, cleanup and redevelop contaminated brownfield sites, and invest in hospital infrastructure. He also has announced a $760 billion plan to address some of the country's most urgent infrastructure needs, from the massive maintenance backlog and designing safer streets to combating climate change by reducing carbon emissions and moving us toward a clean energy future. It also outlines major investments in surface transportation, rail and transit systems, airports, ports and harbors, wastewater and drinking water infrastructure, brownfields, and broadband.

Washington, DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today applauded the $263.6 million in federal funding New Jersey will receive to expand broadband access in the state. The funding comes from the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that Pallone fought for as Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee last Congress. The state will primarily use the funding to build out broadband infrastructure in locations that currently do not have it and to upgrade digital networks in areas that lack a reliable connection.

Howard Marine Sciences Laboratory at Sandy Hook will receive $5 million from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) to make critical upgrades to the facility’s saltwater intake system. Union Beach, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) and Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) held a groundbreaking ceremony today with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for the Union Beach flood control project. This phase includes beach replenishment with dunes, pedestrian and automobile dune crossovers, and strategically placed terminal groins, which are similar to jetties. The remaining phases are primarily flood control infrastructure, including flood gates and pump stations.

Long Branch, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced that he secured federal funding from the Department of Transportation (DOT) for construction of a pedestrian tunnel to improve the Long Branch Station. The tunnel will connect the east and west sides of the city that are currently bisected by the rail corridor. It will also provide safe and convenient access to each platform. Currently, many riders are forced to walk across the train tracks, putting their safety at risk.

Pallone secured $370,725 to modernize the emergency operations center in a federal spending bill that was signed into law last year. The funding will be used to replace equipment and upgrade the Communications and 9-1-1 Center used to coordinate police, fire, and EMS services during emergencies and natural disasters.
