WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced that the city of New Brunswick, New Jersey has been awarded a $96,070 federal grant through the U.S. Department of Justice’s Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG), which supports a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime. The funding will be used to purchase law enforcement equipment and increase essential law enforcement services.

LONG BRANCH, NJ — Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) called on New Jersey Governor Chris Christie to sign a bill that would allow privately owned sports betting at casinos and horse-racing tracks in the state. The bill has already passed the state Legislature and proponents of the legislation are confident that this bill would provide a viable way to bring legal sports betting to New Jersey.

ASBURY PARK, NJ – U.S. Senators Robert Menendez and Cory Booker (both D-NJ) and Congressman Frank Pallone (NJ-06) today sent a letter to President Obama urging his administration to keep the Atlantic Coast off limits for oil and gas exploration, stressing that the environmental and economic consequences of an oil spill near the Jersey Shore would be catastrophic.

LONG BRANCH, NJ — Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) released the following statement in response to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration approval of the Incidental Harassment Authorization (IHA) for seismic airgun testing in the Atlantic Ocean conducted by Rutgers University and the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory. The authorization allows for the behavioral harassment of marine mammals by sound during the seismic survey.

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that Oceanport, NJ will be receiving more than $3.69 million in federal funding to replace the city’s Borough Hall, which sustained severe damages as a result of Superstorm Sandy. Pallone also announced that $2.98 million will be allocated to repair the seawall in Monmouth Beach and Sea Bright, which was damaged during Superstorm Sandy. The funding for both projects is being provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) via the Sandy aid package Pallone fought for in Congress.

Discussed critical importance of U.S.-Armenian Relationship

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), co-chair of the Congressional Armenian Issues Caucus, hosted a farewell meeting with Tatoul Markarian, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the United States. Ambassador Markarian has been stationed in Washington for the last nine years.

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that the Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a $1.79 million contract to H&L Contracting LLC to dredge the Shrewsbury River which runs through Monmouth County, New Jersey. The project will entail removing 60,000 cubic yards of sand in order to keep the Shrewsbury River channel navigable. The contractor will place the dredged sand onto the oceanside beach in the Borough of Monmouth Beach.
