Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) issued the following statement in response to the Record of Decision issued today by the Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM). BOEM’s decision will allow for further environmental review of geological and geophysical (G&G) survey activities off the Mid- and South Atlantic coast and may lead to permits for seismic surveying in the Atlantic being issued.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) toured the Graphic Packaging International, Inc. (GPI) facility in Piscataway, New Jersey. GPI is a leader in the packaging industry, serving hundreds of the world’s most recognized brands. Congressman Pallone took a tour of the Piscataway facility and met with the GPI management team and employees.

WASHINGTON, DC —Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) will receive an additional $3,303,332 to complete buyouts and demolition of 196 flood prone properties in Sayreville. This latest grant is awarded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, and was made possible through the Sandy Aid package Congressman Pallone fought for in Congress.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) led a letter signed by 34 Members of Congress urging President Obama not to include special exemptions for religious organizations in his planned executive order regarding workplace protections for LGBT Americans employed by federal contractors. The letter comes in response to faith groups calling on President Obama to create exemptions that would allow an employee to be fired based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the House Energy and Commerce Committee held a markup at which H.R. 669, the “Sudden Unexpected Death Data Enhancement and Awareness Act,” and H.R. 4771, the “Designer Anabolic Steroid Control Act” were approved and passed out of the full Committee. The bills, both introduced by Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), the senior Democrat on the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee, now await action in the full House of Representatives. Both bills received bipartisan support from the Committee.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) sent a letter to Governor Chris Christie urging him to reconsider his decision to withdraw the State of New Jersey from Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). Pallone stressed that remaining in RGGI will help New Jersey comply with new regulations proposed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The EPA’s proposal, announced in June 2014, seeks to cut the amount of carbon pollution produced by power plants by 30% to below 2005 levels by 2030.
