Pallone Announces Crime Prevention Grant for New Brunswick
WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced that the city of New Brunswick, New Jersey has been awarded a $96,070 federal grant through the U.S. Department of Justice’s Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG), which supports a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime. The funding will be used to purchase law enforcement equipment and increase essential law enforcement services.
“Community safety is of utmost importance,” said Congressman Pallone. “At a time when our local law enforcement must cope with difficult funding levels, these federal grants make it possible for towns to support critical crime prevention activities that protect our New Jersey families and communities. I am pleased an important federal investment is being made to keep our communities safe and I will continue to support our local law enforcement operations.”
The Byrne JAG program awards grants to states and units of local government, including tribes, to prevent and control crime. The funds may be used for state and local initiatives, technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, and information systems for criminal justice.
