Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), founder and former co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans, made the following statement in support of the US-India Nuclear Deal Conference Report which is being considered today in the House. A vote is expected later today.

Washington, D.C. ---- Four New Jersey lawmakers lauded reauthorization of the Magnuson-Stevens Act tonight after they fought to include a provision extending until 2013 the rebuilding time frame for summer flounder. The reauthorization bill, which updates our nation's fisheries management laws, was passed by the House late tonight after winning approval in the Senate on Thursday.

Washington, D.C. --- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), founder and former co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans, made the following statement in opposition to H.R. 6406, the Trade/Vietnam Bill, which is being considered tonight in the House. The legislation includes a provision to give the President the authority to end India's competitive need limitations waivers after six months. A vote on the legislation is expected later this evening.

Last month Americans went to the voting booths to voice their displeasure with the most "Do-Nothing Congress" in our nation's history.

It was bad enough the Republican Congress rejected our efforts to increase the minimum wage, to prevent Big Oil from price gouging the American consumer and to prevent seniors from falling into the prescription drug donut hole.

Within the first 100 hours of the new Democratic Congress, we will accomplish more than the Republican Do-Nothing Congress accomplished this entire year.

While Republicans refused to break their questionable cozy relationships with lobbyists, Democrats will pass an ethics reform bill that will once again make this the people's House not the lobbyist's House.

Long Branch, NJ --- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) today announced the South Amboy Fire Department has been awarded a $249,060 federal grant and the Matawan Fire Department will receive a $226,460 grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Assistance to Firefighters Grants.
