Washington, D.C. --- The U.S. Senate joined the House of Representatives in voting to override President Bush's veto of the Water Resources Development Act of 2007 on Tuesday. By enacting the legislation over the president's objection, the House authorized $15 million for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to move ahead with small-scale watershed restoration projects like stream bank restoration in Marlboro, said U.S. Reps. Rush Holt (D-NJ) and Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), who requested the project.

Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) announced that the U.S. House of Representatives today approved a Fiscal Year (FY) 2008 Defense Appropriations conference report that included $1 million he requested for the Rapid Response Database Systems Initiative at Monmouth University. The conference report reconciles differences between House and Senate bills that were passed earlier this year. The final legislation now goes to the President's desk for his signature.

Washington, D.C. --- The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee today approved the Beach Protection Act of 2007, which was originally introduced by U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) in May. The legislation, which requires tough new beach water quality testing and public notification standards so beachgoers are better informed about the safety of their beaches, now goes to the full House for its review.
