Washington, D.C. --- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) announced today that the U.S. House of Representatives has passed a giant Fiscal Year (FY) 2008 omnibus appropriations bill that includes $243,000 for the Jewish Federation of Middlesex County and $136,000 for the Sephardic Bikur Holim of Monmouth County to provide community services.

Washington, D.C. --- Last night, the U.S. House of Representatives approved an omnibus funding bill for Fiscal Year (FY) 2008 that includes funds for the South River flood control project and funds to continue work on the maintenance dredging of the Raritan River, said U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), Rush Holt (D-NJ), Chris Smith (R-NJ) and Jim Saxton (R-NJ) sent the following letter today to House Armed Services Chairman Ike Skelton (D-MO) and ranking member Duncan Hunter (R-CA), and House Armed Services Readiness Subcommittee Chairman Solomon Ortiz (D-TX) and ranking member Randy Forbes (R-VA) urging them to hold another hearing after the Pentagon's caveat report is filed.

Washington, D.C. --- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) today sent the following letter to Admiral Thad Allen, U.S. Coast Guard Commandant, and Sean Connaughton, U.S. Maritime Administrator, regarding a proposal by Exxon Mobil to place a liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal approximately 20 miles off the coast of New Jersey. Pallone is strongly opposed to the proposed LNG terminal.

Washington, DC --- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) today announced that the South Amboy Fire Department has been awarded a $196,080 Federal Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG). The purpose of the AFG program is to award grants directly to fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical service (EMS) organizations to enhance their ability to protect the health and safety of the public, as well as that of first-responder personnel, with respect to fire and fire related hazards.

Washington, DC -- Today, the House Subcommittee on Fisheries, Wildlife and Oceans held a hearing, requested by U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), to discuss rebuilding overfished fisheries under the Magnuson-Stevens Act (MSA). The hearing brought expert fisheries scientists, the environmental community and the fishing community together to discuss the challenges in meeting the rebuilding targets set forth in the MSA.

Washington, D.C. --- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) announced today that the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Fisheries, Wildlife and Oceans will hold an oversight hearing on rebuilding overfished fisheries under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Management Act. The hearing, which will occur on Wednesday, December 5th at 11 am, was requested by Pallone, who serves as a senior member of the Subcommittee.

Long Branch, NJ - Today, in response to news reports about former Attorney General John Ashcroft being hand picked by U.S. Attorney Chris Christie as federal monitor in a medical implant case, Congressman Pallone sent the following letter to Christie calling for more transparency and safeguards against abuse of deferred prosecution agreements. Ashcroft and his firm stand to collect over $52 million as federal monitor in this case.
