March 11, 2008

Washington, D.C. --- U.S. Reps. Joe Knollenberg (R-MI) and Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), co-chairmen of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues, today announced a Capitol Hill event in Washington to commemorate the 93rd Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

The event will be held in the ornate House Ways and Means Committee Room (Room 1102) of the Longworth House Office Building, on Wednesday, April 23rd, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.

"This April marks the 93rd anniversary of the systematic and deliberate annihilation of 1.5 million Armenians. For the third year we will mark this occasion with a solemn event on Capitol Hill. As Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues, I hope Armenians from around the country can come to Washington, D.C. to mark this anniversary and pay tribute to those who were lost over 90 years ago," Knollenberg said.

"As the world prepares to commemorate the 93rd Anniversary of this devastating historical event, I hope Armenian-Americans will join us in Washington to remember the tragic events that began on April 24, 1915, and to honor both the victims and survivors of the first genocide of the 20th century," Pallone said.
