Washington, D.C. - Congressman Frank Pallone Jr. (D-NJ) and Congressman Walter Jones (R-NC), Friday wrote National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Administrator Lubchenco requesting the agency immediately cease funding for approval of new catch share programs in areas of the South Atlantic, Mid-Atlantic, New England or the Gulf of Mexico in light of Congress terminating funding for new programs in these regions.

$4 Billion In Big Oil Tax Breaks Should Go To Renewable Energy

West Long Branch - With steadily-increasing gas prices coinciding with record-setting profits for the top oil companies, U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. on Thursday joined with consumer advocates, environmentalists, and the American Automobile Association to advocate for short- and long-term actions to keep prices at the pump in check, to prevent market speculators from profiteering and to further develop alternative energy sources.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) Thursday sent a letter to Governor Chris Christie asking him to direct the Department of Environmental Protection to approve the 2011 Summer Flounder regulations before the scheduled opening of the fishery in 10 days. Immediate approval of these regulations, submitted by the New Jersey Bureau of Marine Fisheries on April 8, 2011, will allow the Summer Flounder Fishery to open on May 7, 2011.

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Frank Pallone Jr. (NJ-6) a long-time advocate for fishermen, spoke out against a recent National Marine Fisheries Services ruling that would allow the agency to circumvent a block on catch share programs through the end of fiscal year 2011. Despite Congressional objections to catch share programs because they threaten the vitality of the fishing industry, NMFS has stated that they may continue to allocate resources and time to the development of catch share programs.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Frank Pallone Thursday met with Bayshore seniors to discuss the threat to Medicare and Medicaid from a Republican budget that ends Medicare as we know it by privatizing it and converting it into a voucher program. The plan would also slash Medicaid, which could make nursing homes unaffordable for many seniors. The Republican budget plan would terminate the retirement guarantee of Medicare coverage for all Americans.
