WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressmen Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), senior Democrat of House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee and Henry A. Waxman (CA-33), Ranking Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee sent a letter to four major broadcast networks—ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC—urging the organizations to avoid glamorizing the use of electronic cigarettes, also known as e-cigarettes, and potentially influencing children during their programming.

WASHINGTON, DC —Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that the Perth Amboy Fire Department in Perth Amboy, NJ has been awarded a $477,520 federal Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant. The SAFER program is a part of the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program. Funds under the SAFER program are intended to support the hiring of firefighters and the recruitment and retention of volunteer firefighters.

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that South Amboy, NJ will be receiving more than $2 million in federal funding to repair the city’s Waterfront Park, which was damaged as a result of Superstorm Sandy. The funding is being provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) via the Sandy aid package Pallone fought for in Congress.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Congressman Frank Pallone Jr. (NJ-06) spoke to students at Woodbridge High School in Woodbridge, NJ about the possible risks Electronic Cigarettes, also known as e-cigarettes, pose to public health, as well as their potential for addiction. Pallone discussed the specific dangers of e-cigarettes, since the complete ingredients in e-cigarette cartridges are not known and often vary between brands.

Washington, DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. announced today that the Office of the Inspector General at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will audit the State of New Jersey’s use of $25 million of Sandy aid funds for a marketing campaign to promote tourism at the Jersey Shore. At issue is the bidding process for the campaign and released documents which raise questions as to why the state chose to award the contract to a firm that charged the state over $2 million more than a comparable bid for similar work.

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that Long Branch and the Middlesex County Utilities Authority will be receiving more than $16.5 million in federal funding for continued projects as a result of Superstorm Sandy. Long Branch, NJ – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that work will begin this Saturday, January 4, 2014, on the $18.3 million beach replenishment project from Asbury Park to Avon-by-the-Sea. The federally funded Army Corps of Engineers project will restore beaches in Asbury Park, Ocean Grove, Bradley Beach, and Avon-By-The-Sea to better than pre-Sandy conditions and was made possible by the Sandy aid package passed by Congress. The contractor, Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company, will use over one million cubic yards of sand for the project.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) and Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) led members of the New Jersey Congressional Delegation in sending a letter to President Obama urging him to accept Rutgers University’s invitation to deliver the keynote address for its 250th Anniversary Commencement in 2016. Rutgers University, which is located in Congressman Pallone’s district, is one of the largest and most prestigious research universities in the nation.
