WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Congressman Frank Pallone Jr. (NJ-06) visited the Puerto Rican Action Board (PRAB) headquarters in New Brunswick, NJ to highlight the importance of Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funding, especially during cold winter months. LIHEAP assists eligible individuals and families by providing a benefit that goes toward lowering their heating and cooling bills. PRAB handles all LIHEAP applications for Middlesex County.

NL Industries ordered to pay $79M to remediate lead contamination

(NEWARK, NJ) – U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Congressman Frank Pallone (D-NJ) today praised the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for directing NL Industries to conduct a $79 million cleanup at the Raritan Bay Slag Superfund site in Old Bridge and Sayreville. Soil and sediment at the site were found to be contaminated with lead-containing waste that was used to construct a seawall and jetty at the popular beach.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) sent a letter to Governor Chris Christie (R-NJ) admonishing his administration’s elimination of New Jersey’s Comprehensive Tobacco Control Program. Programs like this serve as a statewide effort to establish smoke-free policies, help tobacco users quit smoking, and prevent potential users from becoming addicted. The funding for the New Jersey’s Tobacco Control Program, first slashed completely in Fiscal Year 2013, remains at zero for Fiscal Year 2014.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced today that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will study the levee system in North Middletown, New Jersey and its impact on flood hazard maps in response to his request. Pallone has been working with local elected officials and community members in order to address increased flood insurance premiums in the area.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. and Senator Robert Menendez sent a letter to the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission today asking that a proposal to require states to group their summer flounder quota together, called regionalization, be rejected until further public input and information on alternatives can be attained.

C.—Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) and Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac announced that the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) will receive $2,575,000 to buy out and demolish 89 flood prone properties in Woodbridge. The properties will be maintained as open space.

“This funding will provide much needed relief to Woodbridge homeowners who are still trying to recover from Sandy’s devastation,” said McCormac.
