Long Branch, NJ – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) attended an open house held by the National Park Service (NPS) and voiced opposition to a proposal to increase camping and parking fees at Sandy Hook. The open house was announced after Pallone wrote NPS Director Jonathan B. Jarvis requesting that NPS hold a public hearing on the fee increases and provide information on the fee differences between Sandy Hook and other parks.

Long Branch, NJ – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) will be attending an open house on the National Park Service (NPS) proposal to increase Sandy Hook’s camping and parking fees. The open house was announced after Pallone wrote NPS Director Jonathan B. Jarvis requesting that NPS hold a public hearing on the fee increases and provide information on the fee differences between Sandy Hook and other parks. Public engagement events were also held on August 12 and August 20.

The open house will be held today from 6pm to 8 pm at the Sandy Hook Chapel.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ– Today, at Rutgers University Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ 06) discussed reforms to assist New Jersey families facing $31 billion in student loan debt. New Jersey currently ranks 9th in the nation in average student loan debt with $30,536 owed by the average student borrower.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ– Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ 06), Ranking Member on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, announced new legislation to amend the Safe Drinking Water Act and provide assistance to schools to replace older drinking water fountains that may contain lead. The bill H.R.5886, coauthored with Congressman Bobby Rush (D-IL), would establish a grant program to provide assistance to local educational agencies for the replacement of drinking water fountains manufactured prior to 1988. Pallone made the announcement at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School in New Brunswick.

Joe Crowley (D-NY), Ami Bera (D-CA) and more than 40 Members of Congress to the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) reiterating their strong support for a change in policy that requires Sikhs and other players to remove their articles of faith, such as turbans, in international competition.

Last week I traveled to the Middlesex County Mosquito Extermination Commission in Edison, NJ. There I heard from local and state officials, physicians and scientists, and those charged with regulating the mosquito population about the importance of combating the growing Zika crisis.

Nearly 2,000 Americans have contracted Zika in the United States with 80 of those cases now in New Jersey. The World Health Organization has declared Zika a global public health emergency, and the United States must meet this threat head on.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ 06), visited the Kiddie Keep Well Camp in Edison, NJ to highlight the importance of federal food aid, including critical summer meals programs. Lisa Pitz, Program Director of Advocacy, Outreach & Education, NJ Anti-Hunger Coalition also joined Pallone at the camp.
