"I am pleased to be here this morning in support of my colleague Bobby Rush's efforts to address postpartum depression. As an original cosponsor of his legislation, H.R. 1940, I wholeheartedly agree that appropriate research and attention be devoted to this issue. As a senior Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, I plan on working with Congressman Rush to move this bill forward and to see it signed into law by the President.

Washington, D.C. --- U.S. Reps. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Heather Wilson (R-NM) yesterday asked the U.S. General Accountability Office (GAO) to conduct a full investigation into the homeland security needs of Indian Tribes, as well as the ability of Tribal governments to respond to these threats and there impact on state and regional homeland security preparedness. The two lawmakers formally requested the investigation in a letter sent to GAO's Comptroller General, David M. Walker.

Long Branch, NJ --- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) today requested that both the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Department of Transportation work together to develop a system for notifying local officials, law enforcement, and emergency planners of any rail shipments containing hazardous materials through their jurisdictions.

Washington, D.C. --- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) today called on the U.S. National Park Service (NPS) at Sandy Hook to make financial records for the Fort Hancock redevelopment project available to the public. The New Jersey congressman's request follows recent reports that an attorney representing the park service and Sandy Hook Partners, LLC, has filed a request with U.S. District Court for a protective order covering financial information submitted by the developer.

Long Branch, NJ --- In response to a series of recent indictments of public officials, U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) said today that New Jersey needs to limit campaign contributions to developers in particular and corporations in general, as well as expand public financing of campaigns at every level of government.

Long Branch, NJ --- With the Bush administration preparing to proceed with a policy change that would weaken the 30-year-old Clean Water Act and allow partially treated human sewage to be dumped in New Jersey's waterways, U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Commissioner Bradley M. Campbell, environmentalists, fishermen and surfers all came together today to voice their strong opposition to the President Bush's plan, and urged him to reconsider the ill-advised rule change.

"Mr. Speaker, the House Republican Majority finally did the right thing last night when it restored bipartisan ethics rules. In January, the Republican Majority thumbed its nose at the Minority and approved weakened ethics rules along party lines for the sole purpose of protecting one of their leaders. Republican leaders ignored House tradition that all ethics rules be created with both Republicans and Democrats working together. As they have so often over the last couple of years, they simply abused their power and they thought they'd get away with it.

We worked together in the 108th Congress to unveil landmark legislation to bridge the divide in health care between the general population and minority communities, including African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, Asian Americans-Pacific Islanders, and Native Americans.
