Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), founder of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans, today called on the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to investigate threatening comments made on a radio program in Philadelphia during a phone conversation with a call center operator in India.
Washington, D.C. --- As the U.S. Congress prepares to take up energy legislation in the coming months, 14 members of the New Jersey congressional delegation sent a letter today to President Bush asking that he oppose any offshore oil exploration off the coast of New Jersey. The bipartisan letter was prompted by reports that strong efforts will be made by U.S. Sen.
"At a time when the Bush administration is proposing the elimination of 150 federal programs, it is somewhat ironic that its final salmon plan released last November actually proposes $6 billion in additional spending just to continue with a recovery plan that will, in all likelihood, not do anything to increase wild salmon populations.

Pallone's legislation, a "Sense of Congress," would put the U.S. House of Representatives officially on record in support of India's bid.
