WASHINGTON DC –Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr., (NJ-06), Senior Democrat on the Energy & Commerce Health Subcommittee, released the following statement to mark World AIDS Day, which is observed Saturday, December 1, 2012:

“Today, I join people around the world in recognizing World AIDS Day. We have achieved remarkable progress treating and preventing HIV/AIDS in the almost 25 years since World AIDS day was established. Still, there is much more to do. Thirty-four million people worldwide live with HIV today, including an estimated 36,000 in New Jersey.

WASHINGTON DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced that three towns in the Sixth Congressional District, Middletown Township, Long Branch and Asbury Park, were awarded grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to reimburse the towns for debris removal following Hurricane Sandy. This is the second round of funding announced by FEMA to reimburse municipalities for Hurricane Sandy related expenses.

WASHINGTON D.C.—Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced today that the Army Corps of Engineers beach replenishment project in Monmouth Beach is now underway. The $8.5 million allocated for this project was awarded as a result of a request by Congressman Pallone in order to protect the area from the devastating effects of storms like Hurricane Sandy. A Sea Bright portion of the project is also planned.

WASHINGTON DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced that the National Endowment for the Humanities awarded the New Jersey Council for the Humanities an Emergency Chairman’s Grant of $30,000. The grant will go towards repairing New Jersey’s cultural infrastructure and historic institutions that were damaged by Hurricane Sandy.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr., a senior member of the House Natural Resources Committee and the Subcommittee on Fisheries, Wildlife, Oceans and Insular Affairs confirmed that recreational fishing infrastructure such as marinas, tackle and bait stores and public access points that provide fishing access are eligible for disaster assistance under the fishery disaster declaration.

Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today joined colleagues from the Northeast to testify at a hearing of the Senate Committee on Environment & Public Works on Hurricane Sandy’s impact and the needs of local communities following the destructive storm.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced the first round of funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to assist with cleanup efforts for areas impacted by Hurricane Sandy. The FEMA funding will assist with debris removal from Hurricane Sandy including $6,644,850 for three towns in the Sixth Congressional District.

Plainfield, Manalapan and Keansburg will each receive $1,125,000, $3,937,500 and $1,582,350 respectively to help cover the cost of debris removal including felled trees and sand from Hurricane Sandy.

LONG BRANCH, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced three Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grants to reimburse the New Jersey Department of Human Services for expenses related to relief efforts during the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. In total, the state will receive approximately $29 million for expenses incurred to support disaster operations.
