WASHINGTON DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced that several towns in the Sixth District have been awarded grants to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime. One grant in the amount of $64,811 will be administered by Neptune and will also benefit Asbury Park and Long Branch. Another grant for $96,249 will be administered by New Brunswick and also service Perth Amboy, Edison and Woodbridge. The grants were provided through the U.S. Department of Justice’s Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG).

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) voted against the H.R. 6082, a bill that expands offshore oil drilling off the East Coast in the Atlantic Ocean. The Republican offshore drilling plan would expose environmentally sensitive areas and coastal communities to unprecedented risk and could potentially devastate the nation’s Eastern seaboard.

WASHINGTON DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today issued the following statement on the House Floor in opposition to H.R. 2362 the Indian Tribal Trade and Investment Demonstration Project Act, which was debated under suspension of the rules requiring a two-thirds majority for passage. Congressman Pallone opposes the bill because it singles out the Republic of Turkey for preferential investment treatment with Indian Tribes despite Turkey’s recent actions that are contrary towards U.S. interests and a long history of human rights violations:

WASHINGTON DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today participated in a Natural Resources Fisheries, Wildlife, Oceans & Insular Affairs (FWOIA) subcommittee hearing on H.R. 6096, the Atlantic Fisheries Statutes Reauthorization Act of 2012. The bill, which Pallone introduced with Congressman Jon Runyan (NJ-03), reauthorizes a number of vital fisheries conservation programs to help protect species like Atlantic Striped Bass and Atlantic Sturgeon.

WASHINGTON DC – Yesterday, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) introduced an amendment in the Natural Resources Committee markup of H.R. 6082 that removed proposed oil and gas lease sales in the Atlantic Ocean from the bill. The original legislation will enable Big Oil companies the ability to lease five areas in the Atlantic for oil exploration, which would put the valuable coasts at risk.

WASHINGTON DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced a $1 million grant for services to assist approximately 400 at-risk or homeless veterans in Monmouth, Middlesex, Ocean and Burlington Counties. The Sixth District includes areas in both Middlesex and Monmouth counties. The grant was awarded to the nonprofit organization United Veterans of America Inc. (Soldier On) under the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program.

ASBURY PARK, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today visited the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County’s Asbury Park Unit to highlight the importance of water safety. Boys & Girls Clubs offer beginner, intermediate and advanced swim lessons for children ages 6-12 and educate youth and parents on the importance of being safe around water.
