EDISON, NJ – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) hosted an event at Middlesex County College to highlight President Obama’s plan to make community college free for responsible students. Congressman Pallone was joined by Joann La Perla-Morales, President of Middlesex County College; New Jersey Assemblyman Patrick J. Diegnan, Jr.; Middlesex County Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios; and students of the college.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – As the nation gears up for Super Bowl XLIX next weekend, New Jersey Congressmen Frank A. LoBiondo (02) and Frank Pallone, Jr (06) have again introduced their bills to legalize sports-betting. The Congressmen called for action on their legislative proposals, arguing that legalized sports-betting will benefit New Jersey’s economy and crack down on criminal enterprises which operate off-the-book betting in the shadows.

LONG BRANCH, NJ – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that the contract for beach replenishment from southern Deal to Loch Arbour has been awarded. The project will cover the area stretching from Philips Avenue in Deal south to Loch Arbour. The Army Corps of Engineers awarded the contract for the $38,283,230 project to Manson Construction Company. Work to replenish this stretch of the shore will begin in spring 2015.

UNION BEACH, NJ – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) and Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) unveiled companion legislation designed to protect innocent Sandy victims from retroactive clawbacks to their federal disaster assistance in response to recoupment letters sent by the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA).

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), the Ranking Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder requesting that the U.S. Department of Justice conduct an independent review to determine whether E-ZPass data of New Jersey drivers was repeatedly accessed by officials at the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey (PANYNJ) without proper authority and, potentially, for political purposes.

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), the Ranking Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, submitted a statement expressing his opposition to the proposed plan to build an offshore liquefied natural gas port 24 miles off the coast of Long Branch, New Jersey. In his statement, which was submitted at a public hearing held on the issue, Pallone highlighted the potential dangers that the proposed Liberty Natural Gas (LNG) Port Ambrose terminal poses to New Jersey's ocean and coastline, which work as crucial economic engines for the state.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) attended a public comment session to express his concern regarding the National Parks Service’s (NPS) proposed fee increases at Sandy Hook. At Congressman Pallone’s request, the NPS agreed to hold this public hearing at Sandy Hook where New Jerseyans could voice their opinions regarding the proposed changes. The proposed fee increases would raise camping fees at the park in 2015 and also raise parking fees starting in 2017.

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that Rutgers University has been awarded $550,000 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to continue ongoing research to identify and evaluate changes in the number of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and other developmental disabilities in the state of New Jersey. The CDC suggests that 1 in 68 school age child in the United States is living with autism. However, in New Jersey, that number is 1 in every 45.
