Pallone Joins Reps. DelBene, Kind to Introduce Legislation to Enhance the Affordable Care Act’s Small Business Tax Credit

February 6, 2015

WASHINGTON, DC – Yesterday, Representative Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), the Ranking Member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, joined Representatives Suzan DelBene (WA-1) and Ron Kind (WI-03) to introduce legislation that expands tax credits for small businesses, created under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), in order to allow more employers to offer health insurance to their workers. Pallone has introduced this bill during the last two sessions of Congress.

“It is critical that Congress continue to give our country’s small businesses the tools that they need to more easily provide for their workers,” said Representative Pallone, who has led this effort in the past. “I am pleased to join my colleagues Representatives DelBene and Kind in introducing this commonsense legislation that will allow more small business owners to provide their employees with quality, affordable health insurance.”

The Small Business Tax Credit Accessibility Act (H.R. 762) expands the small business tax credit created under the Affordable Care Act, making more small businesses across the country eligible to receive these benefits. It makes the tax credit more accessible and available for a longer period of time, helping to ensure that more small businesses can provide affordable, quality health insurance to their workers.

The bill’s introduction also comes on the same week that House Republicans held their 56th vote to repeal the ACA. “Five years after the law’s passage, it is irresponsible for Republicans to pretend that the law and its landmark reforms, including these small business tax credits, can simply be taken away from the millions of Americans already benefitting.”
