Pallone Statement on President Obama’s FY 2016 Budget
Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) released the following statement upon the release of President Obama’s Fiscal Year 2016 Budget:
“President Obama’s budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2016 lays out a fiscally-responsible plan to invest in our future and make sure that hardworking Americans are able to benefit from an economy that is finally improving. I am particularly pleased that the President is committed to making strategic investments in our nation’s infrastructure, increasing funding for medical research, expanding access to higher education and ending sequestration – all while reducing the deficit by nearly $2 trillion over the next ten years.
“The President’s budget also includes proposals to expand the Earned Income Tax Credit and triple the child-care tax credit, which will provide Americans in the middle class and those working every day to join it with more opportunity, which will further strengthen our nation’s economic recovery.
“With the federal deficit cut by two-thirds and health care costs growing at their lowest rate in decades, we have a rare opportunity to write a new chapter in American history, one that revitalizes the middle class and provides for greater economic prosperity for all. It is now up to Congress to see the President’s vision through to the finish line. I look forward to doing my part, and I hope all of my colleagues will join me.”
