Washington, D.C. -- Representatives Frank Pallone (NJ-06) and Rush Holt (NJ-12), Senators Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez, along with key Ocean advocates Friday met at the New Jersey shore in Ocean Grove to encourage the use of wind energy over offshore drilling. The event highlighted the benefits of a long-term investment in wind energy.

Washington, D.C. -- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone Jr. (NJ-06) Tuesday announced the Village of Loch Arbour will receive 75 percent of funding needed to complete restoration from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection to rebuild the lake wall that has been in severe disrepair since 2004. This announcement comes in response to the long-time efforts of the village to secure funding, as well as Congressman Pallone’s April 19 letter to Commissioner Bob Martin requesting expedited funding for restoration of the wall.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that Long Branch Volunteer Fire Department in Long Branch, NJ received $67,500 in funding provided through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. The money will be spent to improve emergency response capabilities by purchasing updated protective equipment for the volunteer fire department which serves 50,000 people during the year and up to 150,000 people during the summer season.

Washington, DC – The House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Insular Affairs, Oceans and Wildlife on Wednesday held a hearing on the risks and benefits associated with keeping dolphins, orca whales, and other marine mammals in captivity. In light of the death of a trainer at SeaWorld caused by an orca whale on February 24, 2010, several issues have been raised about the programs the marine mammals are used in and the effects captivity has on them.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. the sponsor of legislation that would ban offshore drilling along the North- and Mid-Atlantic States, issued the following statement on Tuesday in response to the hearing in Newark on the Obama Administration's plan to pursue offshore oil and gas exploration along the Atlantic Coast:

"First, I am disappointed that this hearing is being held during the week when all of New Jersey’s federal representatives are in Washington and cannot attend.

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone Jr. (D-NJ) Thursday questioned representatives from the recreational and commercial fishing communities regarding the implications of the administration’s stringent catch shares program and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration implementation of the program. Pallone expressed serious concern about catch shares and took issue with existing problems in them at the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Insular Affairs, Oceans and Wildlife hearing on catch shares.

Landmark Legislation Enhances Health Care, Support for Families

Washington, DC – The House on Wednesday voted in favor of landmark legislation to enhance and improve health services for wounded veterans and their families. The bipartisan Caregivers and Veterans Omnibus Health Services Act addresses the many hardships and sacrifices associated with lengthy recovery from severe injuries of veterans.
