(WASHINGTON, D.C.) -- Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ), Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ) today issued a letter to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the US Army Corps of Engineers, the federal agencies responsible for protecting the New Jersey coastline, to determine what went wrong this past Labor Day weekend when trash and other debris washed ashore in Ocean County and forced several beaches to close.

President Bush has threatened to veto a bill that would provide health care insurance to five million children who are currently uninsured.

The president's reason---the bill is simply too expensive. What he ignores is the fact that the CHAMP Act is fully paid for.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit struck down a prior federal court ruling that had prevented New Jersey from enforcing its safety, health, and environmental regulations on railroad solid waste transfer facilities. The court found that federal law does not necessarily preempt all state regulation of these facilities.

Long Branch, NJ --- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health, issued the following statement in response to a U.S. Census Bureau Report released today that shows the number of Americans living without health insurance increased by 2.2 million between 2005 and 2006 to a total of 47 million Americans. The number of uninsured children also increased from 8 million in 2005 to 8.7 million in 2006.

New Brunswick, N.J. – U.S. Representative Frank Pallone, Jr. joined with state and local leaders gathered today at the Chandler Health Center to promote Rx4NJ to the Hispanic community. The public awareness campaign is in response to a recent AARP study that found Hispanics in particular have difficulty paying for their prescription medicines. Today’s event was designed to educate New Jersey’s Hispanic community about the availability of patient assistance programs that provide free or nearly free prescription medicines to eligible residents.

Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) today visited children at the Red Bank Summer Camp to tout House passage earlier this month of a Fiscal Year (FY) 2008 Agriculture Appropriations bill that included a provision he championed that would expand to New Jersey a popular federal program that provides meals to low-income children during the summer.
