Washington, D.C. – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr., (NJ-06), Senator Robert Menendez, along with Senator Frank Lautenberg, and representatives John Sarbanes (MD-03), Albio Sires (NJ-13), Rush Holt (NJ-12), Steven Rothman (NJ-09), Donald Payne (NJ-06) and Elijah Cummings (MD-07) Monday sent a letter requesting Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell withdraw support for Big Oil and any offshore drilling in the state. Opposition from the governor would be a key component in an offshore drilling ban in Virginia.

Washington, DC -- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. sent the attached letter to Governor Chris Christie on Friday urging him to reconsider two changes to important health care services included in the governor's budget proposal for the next fiscal year. Changes to state prescription drug programs for seniors and to FamilyCare, the joint state and federal program that provides health coverage for needy families, will result in higher costs, fewer people taking advantage of the services and the loss of federal funds.

Washington, DC - U. S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. issued the following statement on Thursday welcoming the move by the Obama Administration to halt the plan to put oil drills off the coast of Virginia and to announce his intention of introducing the "No New Drilling" legislation that would ban all new drilling in U.S. waters:

"It's unfortunate that it took the terrible tragedy in the Gulf to change the course of plans to add more oil drills in more locations, but this is a welcome move that provides the opportunity to work to end offshore drilling.

Washington, D.C. – The House voted Thursday to pass the Home Star Energy Retrofit Act of 2010 which through the program will provide tax rebates to homeowners who install energy-saving products and at the same time help to create much-needed jobs in the manufacturing sector. The short-term, two-part program will benefit homeowners who perform and implement energy audit recommendations, and those who install energy-saving windows, doors, and heating systems.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) announced that the Avon-by-the-Sea Volunteer Fire Department received $261,250 in funding provided through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. The money will be spent to purchase a new fire truck for the fire department which serves approximately 3,000 Avon residents and regularly provides assistance to neighboring communities.

Washington, D.C. -- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone Jr. (NJ-06) Tuesday announced the Village of Loch Arbour will receive 75 percent of funding needed to complete restoration from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection to rebuild the lake wall that has been in severe disrepair since 2004. This announcement comes in response to the long-time efforts of the village to secure funding, as well as Congressman Pallone’s April 19 letter to Commissioner Bob Martin requesting expedited funding for restoration of the wall.

The event highlighted the benefits of a long-term investment in wind energy.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that Long Branch Volunteer Fire Department in Long Branch, NJ received $67,500 in funding provided through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. The money will be spent to improve emergency response capabilities by purchasing updated protective equipment for the volunteer fire department which serves 50,000 people during the year and up to 150,000 people during the summer season.

Washington, DC – The House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Insular Affairs, Oceans and Wildlife on Wednesday held a hearing on the risks and benefits associated with keeping dolphins, orca whales, and other marine mammals in captivity. In light of the death of a trainer at SeaWorld caused by an orca whale on February 24, 2010, several issues have been raised about the programs the marine mammals are used in and the effects captivity has on them.
