Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced starting June 10, Medicare will begin mailing out to tens of thousands of seniors $250 ‘donut hole’ checks. Under the recently enacted health reform law, seniors who fall in the donut hole coverage gap in 2010 will receive this one-time tax-free $250 rebate check. These checks will continue to be mailed monthly over the next several months as seniors enter the coverage gap.

Washington, D.C. -- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone Jr. (D-NJ) Wednesday released the following statement on the court verdict and sentencing of Union Carbide executives responsible for the Bhopal gas disaster which left 15,000 people dead and affected an additional 600,000 people.

“I believe this court ruling is long overdue and that the executives of Union Carbide and its Indian subsidiary deserve to be criminally prosecuted. The court’s sentence of merely two years for those responsible for the world’s worst chemical disaster is outrageous.

Washington, D.C. – Today Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) voted in support of the American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act which passed in the House Friday. The legislation will close tax loopholes in effect preventing corporations from shipping jobs overseas as well as help to create or save more than one million American jobs. By closing tax loopholes and enforcing corporate accountability, more jobs will remain and be created in New Jersey rather than by companies that create jobs offshore and avoid U.S. taxation.

Washington, D.C. – In the second of seven hearings on the Gulf of Mexico oil spill Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. Thursday demanded answers on the cause of the spill and the ability of the companies to prevent future spills. Executives from BP and Transocean, two of the companies responsible for the approximately 130,000 barrels of oil that have spilled into the Gulf of Mexico, provided testimony before members of the House Natural Resources Committee.
