Long Branch, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. Monday announced the contract for Monmouth Beach replenishment has been awarded to Weeks Marine in the amount of $12,913,250. Work on beach replenishment is expected to begin by November.

“The wind and flooding during Hurricane Irene proved how important beach replenishment is to the communities that receive it,” said Pallone. “Beach replenishment protected the shore during the storm and as a result of storm damage this project is all the more necessary.”

Tinton Falls, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. and Congressman Rush Holt Monday held a ribbon-cutting to recognize the reopening of the Department of Veterans Affairs Community-based Outpatient Clinic in Monmouth County. The clinic in its new location has been expanded and the majority of the clinic’s services are now on one level to make it easier for physically challenged patients to get around the facility.

New Jerseyans Have 30 Days Left to Apply for Aid


Long Branch, N.J. – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. Friday urged his constituents to apply for disaster aid with the deadline to apply 30 days away. To date, FEMA has approved more than $106 million in aid to disaster survivors, while the SBA has approved more than $13 million in disaster loans to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes, and nonprofit organizations.

Atlantic Highlands, N.J. – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. Thursday called for action on legislation he recently introduced that would help preserve the fishing industry that is so vital to the Jersey Shore economy and has recently been threatened by overly restrictive catch limits. Pallone’s bill, termed the Flexibility and Access in Rebuilding American Fisheries Act of 2011, was cosponsored by Republican Walter Jones of North Carolina. It has bipartisan support in Congress.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. Wednesday announced that five police officers in Asbury Park and four police officers in Long Branch will be rehired as a direct result of a grant awarded Tuesday by the Department of Justice. The New Brunswick Police Department also received a $1.6 million Community Oriented Policing Services grant to rehire seven police officers. In total, 78 officers will be rehired in New Jersey with $20 million in grants.

The Long Branch and Asbury Park police departments also received $3.1 million in Community Oriented Policing Services grants to rehire nine police officers. In total, 78 officers will be rehired in New Jersey with $20 million in grants.
