Pallone Statement on February Jobs Report
Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) released the following statement today following the February jobs report indicating that 227,000 jobs were added in February, marking two straight years of private sector job growth.
“The Bureau of Labor Statistics Report released today showed that nationwide unemployment remained unchanged at 8.3 percent, the lowest in three years, and private businesses added 233,000 new employees in February. In New Jersey, unemployment held steady at 9 percent, but a spike in job creation showed signs of economic recovery. There were 13,300 jobs added in the state last month, more than any other month since October 2007. The steady job growth is encouraging, but there is still work to be done, and creating jobs must remain our top priority in Congress.
“After more than 400 days in the majority, Republican leaders have yet to take up a comprehensive jobs bill that will result in significant job creation. I will continue to fight for legislation that will strengthen the economy and middle class, like the Make it in America plan that prioritizes and supports American manufacturing. We cannot afford to wait any longer to take real action on jobs.”
