“President Obama’s FY 2015 Budget outlines a path for our nation to grow our economy, create new opportunities for hard working Americans and ensure fiscal responsibility. I am pleased that the president’s budget has a strong focus on job creation by encouraging manufacturing, one of the bright spots in our economy, as well as expanding research and innovation and making investments in infrastructure.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), the senior Democrat on the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee, applauded the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for taking a major step to update nutrition labels on food packages for the first time in two decades. The FDA’s landmark proposal is intended to help parents and other consumers make healthier choices in light of new public health trends and new studies linking diet to various chronic diseases.

Pallone, whose district was one of the hardest hit by Superstorm Sandy, has called for much needed relief for New Jersey fisheries affected by the storm.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representatives Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) and Frank LoBiondo (NJ-02) led a letter to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Fish and Wildlife Services (NFWS) asking the agencies to explain their votes earlier this month in favor of new regionalization measures for the 2014 fluke fishing season.

KEANSBURG, NJ – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) and Colonel Paul Owen, Commander of the New York District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, announced that work will begin on the Keansburg beach replenishment project that will be completed to restore damage to the Jersey Shore caused by Superstorm Sandy. The work to be done by the Army Corps will improve this project beyond damage from the devastating storm. Work is set to begin on or around March 1, 2014.

WASHINGTON, DC —Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that low-achieving schools in the state of New Jersey will receive $9,485,864 in federal funding through the Department of Education’s School Improvement Grants (SIG) program. New Jersey is one of nine states across the country that will receive more than $71 million in funding through the SIG program.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) sent a letter to the Secretaries of Homeland Security and Transportation, Jeh Johnson and Anthony Foxx, calling on them to issue a waiver that would allow a shipment of rock salt to be delivered to the Port of Newark. The shipment, currently aboard a foreign-flagged vessel, is unable to be unloaded in New Jersey due to a provision in the Merchant Marine Act of 1920, commonly known as the Jones Act.
