Washington, DC – Today, at the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission, a spokesperson for Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) provided a statement arguing that proposed reductions for Summer Flounder quotas would harm many coastal communities including those along the Jersey Shore that rely on the recreational and commercial fishing industries. The Commission, despite opposition by New Jersey representatives, elected to finalize regulations that will result in a 34% cut in summer flounder quotas for the state.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – With Super Bowl LI fast approaching, Congressmen Frank A. LoBiondo (NJ-02) and Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) have reintroduced legislation to legalize sports-betting. The Congressmen called for action on their bills, arguing that legalized sports-betting will benefit New Jersey’s economy and crack down on criminal enterprises which operate off-the-book betting in the shadows. The American Gaming Association estimates that Americans will stake an estimated $4.7 billion on Sunday's game between the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – Today in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) and local leaders voiced their opposition to Trump’s executive orders on immigration. Last week, President Trump signed executive orders for construction of a Mexican border wall and targeting sanctuary cities by threatening to revoke federal funding to those jurisdictions. On Friday, he suspended visas from several majority-Muslim nations while preventingall refugees from entering the country for 120 days.

Updated Version of Plan was submitted in 2012, but no new plan has been released

Washington, DC - Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), the Ranking Member on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, sent a letter to Governor Chris Christie asking that the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) revise and update the Statewide Water Supply Plan. Currently, 14 of New Jersey’s 21 counties have a drought warning, increasing the importance of updating the plan.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, The American Lung Association released a State of Tobacco Control report, showing that New Jersey is one of only two states in the country that allocates zero state funding for tobacco prevention and cessation programs. Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), Ranking Member on the Energy and Commerce Committee, admonished the Christie administration for refusing to take part in a statewide effort to establish smoke-free policies, help tobacco users quit smoking, and prevent potential users from becoming addicted.

Long Branch, NJ – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) voiced his opposition to the Monmouth County Reliability Project (MCRP) at a public hearing held at Middletown High School North in Middletown, NJ. The hearing was overseen by Office of Administrative Law Judge Gail M. Cookson, as part of the process to determine the recommendation she will be making to the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) on whether the BPU should approve the MCRP.
