Washington, D.C. – Last night, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr.'s (NJ-06) bill to increase funding to combat illicit opioid importation passed the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health. H.R 5228, the Stop Counterfeit Drugs by Regulating and Enhancing Enforcement Now (SCREEN) Act, will also expand the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) authority to prevent illegally manufactured opioids, including heroin and fentanyl, from arriving overseas through the mail.

The Democrats announced one bill and two discussion drafts during a Subcommittee on Digital Commerce and Consumer Protection hearing this morning on Combatting Robocalls and Caller ID Spoofing.

Long Branch, NJ — Today at Children's Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) and New Jersey non-profit leaders discussed how the GOP Tax law created disincentives toward charitable giving. The law raised the standard deduction and eliminated many itemized deductions, making it less likely that tax filers will continue itemizing, in turn removing an incentive to donate to charitable organizations.

Long Branch, NJ – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has extended the deadline for Sandy victims to complete mitigation projects using Increased Cost of Compliance (ICC) funding by 3 years. Last month, Pallone and members of the New Jersey Congressional delegation asked FEMA Administrator William "Brock" Long to extend the deadline.
