Washington, D.C. – Last night, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr.'s (NJ-06) bill to increase funding to combat illicit opioid importation passed the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health. H.R 5228, the Stop Counterfeit Drugs by Regulating and Enhancing Enforcement Now (SCREEN) Act, will also expand the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) authority to prevent illegally manufactured opioids, including heroin and fentanyl, from arriving overseas through the mail.

The law raised the standard deduction and eliminated many itemized deductions, making it less likely that tax filers will continue itemizing, in turn removing an incentive to donate to charitable organizations.
