Washington, D.C. – Congressman Frank Pallone Jr. Tuesday wrote Chairman Robins of the Mid Atlantic Fishery Management Council and Chairman Boyles of the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission regarding his concerns that the organizations have issued draconian cuts to black sea bass quotas that are based on incomplete data.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Frank Pallone Jr. Tuesday wrote House Speaker John Boehner asking him to rebuke Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s remarks last week demanding federal aid distributed to hurricane victims be matched with budget cuts. Cantor’s demands would slow delivery of federal aid to thousands of families in New Jersey who depend on it to put their lives back together after one of the most destructive storms New Jerseyans have seen.

Long Branch, N.J. – Congressman Frank Pallone Jr. Thursday announced that Jersey Shore businesses are up and running in the wake of Hurricane Irene. Pallone met with local merchants at Pier Village in Long Branch to see how business is going and to gauge merchants’ outlook for the remainder of the tourism season.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Frank Pallone Jr. Thursday requested that Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Fugate declare Monmouth, Middlesex and Union counties major disaster areas. This declaration will allow individuals who are not eligible for insurance coverage and who live in these counties to receive federal funding to help them repair damages from Hurricane Irene and also pay for temporary housing

Washington, D.C. - The Jacques Cousteau National Estuarine Research Reserve at Rutgers University was awarded $587,190 to help conduct research and to increase understanding of coastal ecosystems, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. announced on Tuesday.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Frank Pallone Jr. Tuesday announced $250,000 in funding through the Drug Free Communities Support Program which will fund youth substance abuse prevention efforts. Nationally, the DFC program has been credited with a 17 percent decline in tobacco use and eight percent decline in alcohol use in high school students and has been even more effective for middle school populations.
