WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr.’s (NJ-06) bipartisan proposal to fix the long-plagued Medicare doctor payment system, the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR), passed the House Committee on Energy and Commerce by a recorded vote of 51-0. Pallone is ranking Democrat for the Subcommittee on Health and sponsored the bill upon hearing from thousands of seniors at events, meetings and telephone town halls about their concerns of losing their doctors due to the flawed law.

Long Branch, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced today that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has amended its policies that were blocking many New Jerseyans who previously paid to rebuild or repair their homes after Superstorm Sandy from obtaining Community Development Block Grants (CDBG grants).

Medicare was signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson on July 30, 1965 in Independence, Missouri. Thanks to Medicare, virtually all Americans 65 and older have health care coverage. Long Branch, NJ – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) held three town hall meetings with residents at senior complexes operated by the Long Branch Housing Authority (LBHA) where he shed light on the crippling effect the across the board federal budget cuts, also known as the sequester, are having on housing programs in New Jersey and nationally. The sequester has caused housing authorities to nearly stop issuing new rent vouchers

Long Branch, NJ – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) was joined by Monmouth Beach Mayor Susan Howard, Sea Bright Councilman Reed Murphy and Colonel Paul Owen, Commander of the Army Corps of Engineers New York District at the Monmouth Beach Bathing Pavilion to praise the progress of the beach replenishment project that has begun in Monmouth Beach and will proceed to Sea Bright. This work represents a portion of the larger Army Corps of Engineers beach replenishment project covering a majority of the beaches from Sea Bright to Manasquan. Pallone fought for robust funding in the Sandy aid package passed by Congress, and over $100 million was allocated from that bill for this long needed project.

LONG BRANCH, NJ—Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. announced that the long-plagued Medicare doctor payment system, the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR), is a step closer to being fixed as a result of bipartisan proposal he helped draft. Congressman Pallone serves as the senior Democrat on the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health and he is the lead Democratic sponsor of the bill, playing a pivotal role in negotiating a policy to ensure that doctors will continue to participate in Medicare, as well as reforming to system to be one that rewards quality of care over volume. The bill is scheduled to be marked up in the Congressman’s Health Subcommittee on Tuesday, July 23.
