Highlights Need for Increased Disabilities Education Funding

LONG BRANCH, NJ – To recognize Autism Awareness Month, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today visited teachers and students from the Multiple Disabilities class at John P. Stevens High School in Edison, New Jersey. The class serves students with autism, as well as students with a range of cognitive, physical, and other disabilities.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, Congressmen Frank Pallone, Jr. (D NJ-06) and Robert Dold (R IL-10), Co-Chairs of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues, welcomed members of the Armenian community to Capitol Hill. The event included remarks by Members of Congress and community leaders, honoring the bravery of those who perished in and survived the Armenian Genocide and highlighting current efforts to properly reaffirm this crime against humanity.

WASHINGTON, DCCongressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced that the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) will receive $3.862 million to continue to fund buyouts and demolition of flood prone properties in Woodbridge. The funding is being provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) via the Sandy aid package that Pallone fought for in Congress. This grant comes in addition to $5.575 million already allocated to the buyout and demolition of properties in Woodbridge.

LONG BRANCH, NJ – Today, on the five-year anniversary of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Congressman Frank Pallone (D NJ-06), Ranking Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, announced they will introduce a bill to ban offshore drilling in the Atlantic Ocean.

LONG BRANCH, NJCongressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) at a press conference in Allenhurst, NJ today kicked-off the start of a federally funded beach replenishment project covering the area stretching from Philips Avenue in southern Deal to Loch Arbour. The funding for this project is entirely federal and is part of the Sandy aid package that Congressman Pallone fought for in Congress.

WASHINGTON, DCCongressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D NJ-06) today released a letter he sent with Senators Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Cory Booker (D-NJ) to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in opposition to an application for seismic testing during a geophysical survey conducted by Rutgers University less than 16 miles off the coast of Long Beach Island, New Jersey. The letter requests a 60-day extension of the public comment period.

WASHINGTON, DCCongressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced that the Long Branch Housing Authority will receive $146,815 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to help homeless veterans find a permanent home.
