WASHINGTON, DC -- Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr., (NJ-06), Ranking Member on the Energy & Commerce Committee, released the following statement on World AIDS Day:

"Today, I join people around the world in recognizing World AIDS Day. We have achieved remarkable progress treating and preventing HIV/AIDS in the now 28 years since World AIDS day was established. Still, there is much more to do. More than thirty-six million people worldwide live with HIV today, including an estimated 37,000 in New Jersey.

Washington, DC - Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) led Democratic efforts to pass H.R. 34, the 21st Century Cures Act in the United States House of Representatives, which passed by a vote of 392-26. As the Ranking Member on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which oversees health, Pallone worked to advance this legislation that will advance medical research, fund the fight to combat the heroin and opioid epidemic and further efforts towards mental health reform.

New Brunswick, NJ - Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced the winners of 6th District’s 2016 Congressional App Challenge for high school students. Steven Verona, Rishi Salwi, and Charvi Shah from High Tech High School in Middletown, NJ won for their app ‘Parkinsafe’, an app designed for Parkinson's patients to help stabilize screens.

Long Branch, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06),U.S. Senators Robert Menendez and Cory Booker, and a number of New Jersey environmental leaders today voiced concerns over President-elect Trump’s proposed environmental agenda, which includes withdrawing the United States from the Paris climate agreement, elimination of President Obama’s Clean Power Plan, cutbacks at the Environmental Protection Agency, and expanded offshore drilling.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the Department of the Interior unveiled its final 2017-2022 Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Leasing Program. The final plan does not include a dangerous provision from the Draft Proposed Plan that would have authorized new offshore oil and gas leasing along the southern Atlantic coast. Pallone worked relentlessly to remove the Atlantic from the proposal, sending two letters to the Department of the Interior raising concerns about the risks posed by offshore drilling to New Jersey and communities throughout the Atlantic coast.

Long Branch, NJ --- Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a second contract for Phase II of the Hurricane and Storm Damage Reduction Project in Port Monmouth. The $23,146,120.00 Contract 2 includes constructing a levee/floodwall, pump station, and a storm gate, tying into the existing Keansburg levee. The funding is part of the $110 million allocated for Port Monmouth in the Sandy relief package that Pallone worked to secure in 2013. The contract was awarded to Anselmi & DeCiccio of Maplewood, New Jersey.

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), sent a letter asking President Obama to permanently protect both the Atlantic and Arctic Oceans from any future offshore oil and gas leasing. Pallone and 73 of his Congressional colleagues initially made the request to the President in September of 2016.
