New Brunswick, NJ—On Monday, February 25, 2013 at 12:30 p.m., Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) will visit Manavi in New Brunswick, NJ, an organization providing critical service to primarily South Asian women who are victims of violence. Pallone will be joined by New Jersey State Senator Nia Gill and representatives from the Center on Violence Against Women and Children at Rutgers University. The Group will tour Manavi’s facility and meet with the organization’s staff, as well as representative of their board of directors.

Today, Congressman Frank Pallone Jr., (NJ-06) announced $524,313 in new federal funding to Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

“RWJMS serves more than one million people each year with high quality patient care, and this grant recognizes the important service it does for our community,” said Pallone. “This funding will help RWJMS to continue to reach our most vulnerable residents and help them to get the medical care they need.”

WASHINGTON DC — Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), Ranking Member of the Energy & Commerce Subcommittee on Health and U.S. Senators Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) today re-introduced the Cardiomyopathy Health Education, Awareness, Risk Assessment, and Training in the Schools (HEARTs) Act of 2013, legislation to combat Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA), the leading cause of death on school property. Cardiomyopathy, one of the causes of SCA, is frequently misdiagnosed and only five percent of those affected survive it.

WASHINGTON. D.C.—Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) released the following statement today in response to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s decision to veto the health care exchange law passed earlier this year by the state legislature. A critical part of the Affordable Care Act includes the creation of health care exchanges to establish a marketplace for the purchase of affordable health insurance plans. States were meant to tailor their specific needs to a state-based exchange, but those who opt out will be obligated to have the federal government run an exchange for them.

WASHINGTON, DC—Representatives Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), Frank Pallone (D-NJ) and Nita Lowey (D-NY) announced they will introduce legislation today to limit the amount of arsenic permitted in rice and rice-based products. A recent Consumer Reports investigation revealed alarmingly high levels of arsenic in rice and rice-based products, such as cereal. There are currently no federal standards for arsenic in most foods, including rice and rice-based products.
