Long Branch, NJ – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), the top Democrat for the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health, joined with local HIV/AIDS advocates and a client of Ryan White services at the offices of Hyacinth AIDS Foundation in Newark, New Jersey to announce his legislation that will maintain vital funding for the Ryan White program to continue serving the HIV/AIDS community in New Jersey and provide essential care that allows these individuals to live longer and more prolific lives. The Ryan White program is set to expire in September of this year, and Pallone’s legislation calls for current law to remain in place until Congress works to reauthorize the program.

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) and Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), authors of the Arsenic Prevention and Protection from Lead Exposure in Juice Act of 2012 or APPLE Juice Act, praised the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) draft proposal for a new standard for acceptable levels of arsenic in apple juice. The FDA is establishing this threshold to provide guidance to industry and will use the level when considering enforcement action if it finds a food product exceeds the threshold.

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced $3,387,083 in grant awards from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to New Jersey health centers to enroll the uninsured in new health coverage options made available by the Affordable Care Act. New Jersey’s health centers served 467,913 patients last year, 43 percent of whom were uninsured. The health centers in New Jersey that are awarded these funds expect to hire 69 additional workers, who will assist 73,201 people with enrollment into affordable health insurance coverage.

"Millions of Americans benefit from Medicare's drug coverage program each year, which is why it's imperative that checks are in place to prevent fraud and abuse as well as to protect patients. We cannot allow Medicare's prescription drug program to be compromised at taxpayer expense. My bill, the Part D Prescription Drug Integrity Act of 2013, will strengthen the Medicare law to help address potential factors contributing to prescription drug abuse."
