Long Branch, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced that the annual 6th Congressional District High School Art Competition is officially underway. Students should participate through their high schools and submit their artwork by March 22nd. The competition is open to all high school students in New Jersey’s 6th Congressional District.

Piscataway, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today held his first meeting of his Youth Advisory Council in 2024 at the Piscataway Community Center.  During the meeting, high school students from New Jersey’s Sixth Congressional District discussed key issues with the Congressman and staff and possible solutions to our country’s most complex challenges.

New Brunswick, NJ - Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced Gauri Kshettry and Twisha Patel, who attend Edison High School, won the 2023 Congressional App Challenge for high school and middle school students in New Jersey’s 6th Congressional District. Their app – TheraPose – leverages AI-powered pose estimation technology — computer vision techniques which involve detecting and tracking the positions and orientations of human body parts in videos – to provide personalized guidance and feedback to patients undergoing physical therapy.

Washington, DC – Long Branch officials attended the presentation ceremony led by First Lady Dr. Jill Biden at the White House today for the Long Branch Free Public Library. The library was one of just four nationwide to receive the 2023 National Medal for Museum and Library Service from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The National Medal is the nation’s highest honor given to museums and libraries that demonstrate excellence in service to their communities.

“Derogatory names and symbols that invoke stereotypes of Native Americans are offensive and embody a shameful legacy of institutionalized mistreatment of this community. They are especially harmful to Native students and children, causing lower self-esteem and other psychological issues documented in scientific studies. These depictions and imagery also impact non-Native people by reinforcing negative stereotypes and misperceptions,” Pallone said.

The Institute of Museum and Library Services is an independent agency that serves as the main source of federal support for libraries and museums within the United States.

Long Branch, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced the recipients of the Congressional Award, this year’s U.S. Service Academy nominees, and the winners of the 2023 Sixth Congressional District High School Arts Competition at an awards ceremony. Pallone also announced the winners of the Congressional App Challenge and the winners of the eighth-annual Poetry Showcase. Students representing several local high schools were honored at a reception at Middlesex College.

Long Branch, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced that the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey (VNACJ) Community Health Center will receive a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to support the establishment of a new primary care medical residency program at its community health centers in Monmouth County. The VNACJ Community Health Center will use the $500,000 grant to design a program for primary care doctors to train in Asbury Park, Keyport, Red Bank, and Long Branch.
