Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) is one of 200 Members of the House Democratic Caucus who sent a letter to Speaker John Boehner demanding a vote on behalf of the American people on the Senate-passed continuing resolution, which would reopen government and end the detrimental, five day long Republican Government Shutdown. The letter, which is signed by 195 voting Members and 5 non-voting delegates, makes clear that there is a bipartisan majority to pass this bill and reopen government now. Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. announced that FEMA has awarded $1,833.961 in federal funding to Middlesex County to repair the beach, dunes and groins at the Old Bridge Waterfront Park damaged as a result of Hurricane Sandy. This area sustained significant damage during Sandy and this FEMA funding, which will pay for 90% of the total project cost, will work to restore the area to pre-storm conditions.

Long Branch, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that five police officers in Asbury Park will be hired as a direct result of a grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS). The COPS Hiring Program fully funds entry-level salaries and benefits for full-time police officers over a three-year period.

Long Branch, NJ – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that the contract has been awarded and work will begin in December on an $18.3 million beach replenishment project from Asbury Park to Avon-by-the-Sea. This Army Corps of Engineers project, which is funded at full federal expense, will restore beaches in Asbury Park, Ocean Grove, Bradley Beach, and Avon-By-The-Sea, to conditions better than prior to Sandy and was made possible by the Sandy aid package passed by Congress.

Long Branch, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), top Democrat on the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health, announced a new report released today by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that finds New Jersey consumers will see increased competition in the Health Insurance Marketplace, leading to new and affordable choices for consumers. According to the report, New Jersey consumers will be able to choose from an average of 29 health plans in the Marketplace.
