LONG BRANCH, NJ – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) and Congressmen Frank LoBiondo (NJ-02) announced that they will introduce new legislation to prevent the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) 2017 and 2018 summer flounder quotas for recreational and commercial fishing from going into effect.

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) denounced the Trump Administration’s decision to reverse landmark U.S. Departments of Education and Justice joint guidance confirming that Title IX’s sex nondiscrimination provisions apply to transgender students. As part of the guidelines, the Obama administration instructed public schools to allow transgender students to use bathrooms and other school facilities that match their gender identity.

Long Branch, NJ – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) and representatives from Monmouth Medical Center discussed Republican efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the disastrous impact repeal will have on New Jersey hospitals and patients. Congressman Pallone has been a leader in speaking out against GOP efforts to repeal the ACA and played a key role in authoring and passing the ACA in 2010. The event is part of the House Democrats #ProtectOurCare national day of action.

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone (NJ-06) slammed the Trump administration’s plans to deport millions of immigrants. As a result of today’s directives, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are required to apprehend and quickly deport virtually every undocumented immigrant they encounter. The administration also announced the beginning of the planning stage for President Trump’s expanded border wall between the United States and Mexico.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Reps. Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) and Bill Pascrell (NJ-09), sent a letter to the Newark Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation raising concerns about reported FBI phone calls and attempts to meet in-person with Syrian refugees. The representatives questioned whether the FBI contact might have an adverse impact on ensuring refugees feel safe and secure in their communities.

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), the Ranking Member on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, led House Democrats in introducing the Safe Drinking Water Act Amendments of 2017 (H.R. 1068). The bill would make comprehensive changes to ensure safer drinking water for communities nationwide. The proposal would be the first major update to the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) in over twenty years.

Long Branch, NJ – This week, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced plans to dredge the Sandy Hook Channel and place the dredged sand in the Sea Bright Offshore Borrow Area (SBOBA). The Sandy Hook Channel was last dredged in 2015. The dredged material will be used to replenish the Sea Bright Offshore Borrow Area, which was hit hard during Superstorm Sandy.

“Michael Flynn’s time as National Security Advisor was the shortest in American history, but his resignation was long overdue. Since the White House was informed by the Acting Attorney General weeks ago about Flynn’s engagement with the Russians, it is fair to question whether he would have been forced to step down if not for the public outcry over his conduct.
