Washington, D.C. – Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement after President Trump formally nominated Andrew Wheeler to be Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator:

"Once again the Trump Administration has chosen an inappropriate time to make an announcement regarding the health and welfare of our environment. After doubling down on the senseless Trump Shutdown, the White House has formally nominated Andrew Wheeler to serve as the Administrator of the EPA.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) released the following statement on President Trump's national address this evening:

"Like many Americans, I am appalled by President Trump's fear mongering and deception in tonight's remarks. For years the president has blamed immigrants for our nation's challenges while promising an expensive, wasteful and unnecessary wall. Now he has held our nation hostage and shutdown our government for weeks in a pathetic attempt to build this wall. The President should be ashamed.

Washington, D.C – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone (NJ-06) announced that he would reintroduce the Clean Ocean and Safe Tourism (COAST) Anti-Drilling Act that would ban offshore oil and gas drilling in the Atlantic Ocean, Straits of Florida, and the Eastern Gulf of Mexico. In 2017, President Trump signed an executive order aimed toward allowing offshore oil and gas drilling along the East Coast.

Today, at a passing of the gavel celebration on Capitol Hill, Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) announced the first three hearings the Committee will hold later this month after it has officially organized for the 116th Congress:

Hearing 1: Assessing the environmental and economic impacts of climate change. There is no more pressing issue for our economy, our communities and our planet than climate change, and this is the first of many hearings the Committee will hold on this growing crisis.

Long Branch, N.J. – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that his office helped secure a total of $254,252 for his constituents seeking assistance through his district office in 2018. His work on behalf of constituents includes help with Veterans Affairs claims, tax return issues with the Internal Revenue Service, Sandy related FEMA grants and claims, SBA loans, Social Security payments, and more.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) and Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr. (NJ-09) helped defeat a last minute GOP effort to add a controversial giveaway to insurance companies as part of an extension of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) at the expense of policyholders and taxpayers. The Congressmen have been leaders in demanding transparency needed reforms for the program.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) applauded a multi-state lawsuit filed to reverse federal approval of seismic testing along the eastern seaboard. Governor Murphy, NJ Attorney General Grewal and NJ Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Catherine R. McCabe helped lead the lawsuit designed to protect coastal communities from the dangers of seismic testing and offshore drilling.
