Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) today was once again chosen by his Democratic colleagues on the House Energy and Commerce Committee to chair the committee's powerful Subcommittee on Health. The New Jersey congressman served in the same position for the last two years during the 110th Congress.

Washington, D.C. --- U.S. Reps. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Joe Knollenberg (R-MI), co-chairmen of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues, today announced U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL) as the incoming co-chairman of the Caucus in the 111th Congress. Kirk will succeed Knollenberg as co-chairman and will serve with Pallone in that capacity.

Medicare beneficiaries who enroll in Medicare Advantage private fee-for-service (PFFS) plans face significant financial risks, according to a GAO report released today. These private plans charge exorbitant cost sharing fees that are much higher than original fee-for-service Medicare and often design elaborate and illegal “prenotification” hurdles to leave beneficiaries bearing much of the cost burden of their care.
