Long Branch, N.J. – Today at Asbury Park High School, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) met with students, administration and advocates to discuss the gun violence epidemic facing our communities every day. According to the Center for Disease Control, New Jersey had 475 firearm deaths in 2015. Just last week, 10-year old Yovanni Banos-Merino was tragically shot outside his home in Asbury Park.

LONG BRANCH, NJ – Today with the beginning of Youth Art Month, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that the 6th Congressional District Annual High School Art Competition is officially underway. The competition is open to all high school students in New Jersey's 6th Congressional District. Students should participate through their high schools, and interested schools must indicate to Congressman Pallone's office their intent to participate by March 29, 2018.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced a research grant for Rutgers University totaling $184,659 from the Department of Health and Human Services. The grant will fund research into cancer biology.

"As technologies and science improve and progress, our commitment to cancer prevention and other disease and health research must be strengthened as well," said Congressman Pallone. "I am proud that Rutgers University, one of the leading research institutions in the world, is receiving this grant. I know it will put it to good use."

Esder Chong, a Rutgers University student who received protection against deportation under former President Barack Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, was invited by Rep. Frank Pallone, D-New Jersey, to be his guest at the high-profile event.

The invitation comes as White House and congressional negotiations over immigration policy — and the fate of nearly 800,000 DACA recipients — remain unresolved. Trump has ordered the phase out DACA starting in March, in the absence of new authorizing legislation.

Long Branch, N.J. – On Monday February 12, at Clean Ocean Action headquarters, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. and environmental leaders stood together to oppose the National Marine Fisheries Service's (NMFS) consideration of permits to allow seismic testing off the Jersey Shore. Six companies that were denied Incidental Harassment Authorization (IHA) permits during the Obama Administration are currently seeking permits from the Trump Administration, and a decision from NMFS regarding whether to issue those permits is expected soon.
